What is academic decathlon?

The Academic Decathlon is a team-based academic competition in the United States, open to high school students of all grade levels. It aims to encourage academic excellence and teamwork among students and improve their knowledge and skills across a wide range of subjects. The competition consists of ten categories: art, economics, essay, interview, language and literature, mathematics, music, science, social science, and speech. Each team consists of nine students, three of whom must have GPAs of 3.0 or lower, three between 3.0 and 3.74, and three above 3.75. The competition typically takes place over two days, with each student competing in all ten categories. Winners at the local and state level advance to the national competition, held annually in April. The Academic Decathlon is organized by the United States Academic Decathlon.
